Robot Stations
Station 1
This is a work-in-progress (WIP) to create a station that accelerates fall sprint teams prototyping activities.
The goal of Station 1 is to provide the opportunity for students and mentors to discover and explore how to:
- Run a Neo brushless motor
- Set the Spark Max CAN ID
- Update the Spark Max firmware
- Set the Spark Max idle mode
- Learn about features of the REV Hardware Client
Motors, Encoders, and Controls
This section provides resources on understanding how the Neo brushless motor works, what an encoder is, and how to control a Spark Max.
- Spectrum3847 FRC team video about how encoders work.
- Understanding PID controllers
- PID stands for Proportional Integral Derivative and if you understand what that means then you understand setting kP, kI, and kD variables for the Spark Max.
- Tuning a turret controller simulations.
- This webpage includes simulations of a turret, where you can change the setpoint, kP, kI, and kD values.
- Pyro Tech videos of initial station 1 setup using a Neo motor, Spark Max, and the REV Hardware Client.
- Battery, Neo motor, Spark Max setup
- Demo of REV Hardware Client, running on the Gizmo drive station, and powering the Neo motor.
Discovery
FRC Manipulators
A manipulator is "A device that moves the game piece from where it is to where it needs to be." This Manipulators for FIRST FRC Robotics highlights the different kinds of manipulators.
- Arms
- Lifts
- Claws
- Shooters
- And more!
